duoDorT was formed in 2003 to specialise
in contemporary music combining the powers of piano, keyboard and electronics
in any combination. Recent works include scores especially written for
the duo by Peter Wiegold and Colin Riley which received their premieres
at Brunel University, London. Their repertoire also includes works by
Graham Fitkin, Jamie Telford and Stephen Montague.
The name duoDorT is a fusion of our combined British and Turkish roots.
Duo, meaning a partnership of two players and dort (or dört in
Turkish) translating as the number four; two pianists, four hands.

Kate Halsall studied at The Royal College
of Music with Kendall Taylor and Yonty Solomon. She works as a pianist
and promoter/producer of new music events and plays with a number of
ensembles including pianocircus, duoDorT, Tamesis Ensemble
and the German vocal ensemble Mosaique. As well as her work as general
manager for Music Orbit, Kate is projects officer at spnm and the founder
and promoter of the Music and the Mind concert series.
Semra Kurutaç studied piano with
Russell Brandon at the University of Wales, Cardiff and in July 2002 graduated
with a Masters in Performance Studies. In the same year she joined pianocircus.
Semra has also worked as a Repetiteur for the Welsh National Youth Opera and
has worked alongside Cardiff based composer Charlie Barber. Her concerto
appearances have included those with the Cardiff University Orchestra,
the Aldworth Philharmonic (Reading) and the Manchester Symphonia with
whom, in July 1997, she made her concerto debut at The Bridgewater Hall.
Semra currently teaches piano at Millfield School in Somerset.
